UAE Intensifies Inspections Against Illegal Fishing in Fujairah Protected Areas

The Fujairah Environment Authority (FEA) has intensified inspections in marine protected areas to combat illegal fishing and protect the UAE’s marine ecosystems. During a targeted inspection near the Dibba marine area, officials seized 21 illegally placed fishing traps.

Authorities safely released rare and endangered fish and other marine life found trapped in the equipment back into the sea. The seized traps were handed over to the Dibba Fujairah Fishermen’s Association for further action.

The FEA said inspections and monitoring will continue 24 hours a day to prevent illegal fishing practices and protect marine resources and biodiversity. Regular checks will also be carried out to ensure compliance with fishing regulations and safeguard protected marine areas.
