Kuwait Warns iPhone Users About iMessage Scams and Unsafe Phone Charging

Kuwait’s Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has warned iPhone users about a new cyber scam being carried out through Apple’s iMessage service. Fraudsters are reportedly sending fake messages in the names of well-known shipping and delivery companies, asking recipients to update delivery details or pay delivery charges through suspicious links.

Authorities have urged users not to click on such links or share personal, banking or financial information. Residents should verify delivery details only through the official website or mobile application of the relevant company. Suspicious messages should be deleted and reported as unwanted. Users are also advised to remain cautious of messages requesting urgent payments or personal information.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Fire Force has warned residents about fire risks associated with unsafe charging of smartphones, tablets and laptops. Devices should not be placed on beds or other flammable surfaces while charging, as overheating can increase the risk of fire. Residents should avoid leaving devices plugged in for unnecessarily long periods and stop using any device if its battery becomes unusually hot or shows signs of damage. In the event of a fire or other emergency, residents should move to a safe location and call 112 rather than attempting to tackle a dangerous fire themselves.
