More than 3.12 million people visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi during the first six months of 2026, reflecting its continued popularity as a religious and cultural destination. Of the total, 1,841,305 people visited for prayers and spiritual activities, while 1,241,808 were international visitors. Another 44,494 people used the recreational walkway.
Indian visitors accounted for 21% of international visitors, making India the leading source country, followed by China at 10%, Russia at 8%, the US at 7% and Germany at 4%. Asia represented the largest share of international visitors at 52%, followed by Europe at 31% and North America at 10%. During Ramadan, the mosque and other mosques distributed 2,605,810 Iftar meals, including 980,010 at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque alone—the highest Iftar distribution in the mosque’s history.
During the first half of the year, the mosque also hosted 1,016 cultural tours and 403 official delegation visits, including visits by senior government officials and diplomatic representatives. Cultural initiatives included the sixth season of the Jusur programme, a manuscript exhibition and programmes highlighting the contributions of Muslim scholars. Visitors also experienced the Light and Peace Museum’s interactive cultural presentation using 360-degree projection, light and sound technologies.
