Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced that the automatic extension system for entry visas and leave permits will end from September 1, 2026. From that date, visas and permits will once again follow their standard legal validity periods and applicable regulations.
The automatic extension for all categories of visit visas issued to people currently in Kuwait will also end on September 1. For expatriates currently outside Kuwait, the regular validity period of leave permits will be restored. However, those who left Kuwait on or before August 31 will continue to benefit from any additional validity already granted to them under the existing rules.
Sahel Certificate Is Important
The Ministry said the Residency Permit Status Certificate available through the Sahel app will serve as the official document for confirming the validity of an expatriate’s leave permit. Expatriates outside Kuwait must return within the period stated on the certificate. Authorities urged residents to check their visa and permit validity carefully and comply with all applicable rules to avoid violations.
