Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has approved price reductions for 517 medicines and pharmaceutical products, providing relief to patients across the country.
Health Minister Dr Ahmed Abdul Wahab Al-Awadhi issued the official decision. With the latest reduction, the total number of medicines and pharmaceutical products whose prices have been reduced in Kuwait over the past three years has reached 2,760.
The Ministry of Health said the measures are aimed at ensuring that Kuwait maintains competitive medicine prices among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Cancer and Other Essential Medicines Included
The newly reduced-price list covers medicines used to treat a range of serious and common health conditions. These include:
- Cancer medicines
- Modern cholesterol-lowering drugs
- Epilepsy medicines
- Allergy treatments
- Various painkillers
- Antibiotics
- Antifungal medicines
- Medicines that help people quit smoking
The ministry said the new prices were determined after reviewing scientific studies and comparing medicine prices in international and regional markets.
The aim is to make essential medicines more affordable for patients without compromising their quality or effectiveness. Authorities also said they will continue to monitor medicine prices in the market and revise the pricing policy whenever necessary.
