Kuwait has ended the annual midday work ban for outdoor workers, allowing employees to resume working during afternoon hours following the completion of the seasonal restriction.
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) said the restriction was introduced to protect workers from the health risks associated with extreme summer temperatures and adverse weather conditions. The measure is implemented annually under Ministerial Decision No. 3 of 2006.
With the restricted period now over, workers involved in outdoor activities can resume their regular working schedules, including during midday hours. However, PAM stressed that employers remain responsible for providing conditions that protect workers’ health and safety.
Employers have been instructed to continue complying with workplace safety requirements and take the necessary measures to protect employees from potential hazards. PAM said inspections will continue to ensure companies are meeting the required safety standards.
Companies and employers found violating workplace safety regulations could face legal action, the authority warned.
The annual midday work restriction is intended to reduce workers’ exposure to extreme heat during Kuwait’s hottest months and help prevent heat-related health problems among employees working outdoors.
