Kuwait is expected to experience a significant drop in temperatures as the year ends, with forecasts indicating minimums could reach 0°C or even -1°C in some areas during the New Year’s Eve period. Meteorologist Fahd Al-Otaibi warned that frost formation is possible in desert zones, urging livestock and farm owners to take necessary precautions to protect animals and crops from the cold spell.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Issa Ramadan noted that cloud cover will increase on Sunday, with a slight chance of scattered rain in some regions. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise temporarily, but conditions will shift noticeably early next week as northwesterly winds set in, bringing cooler air across the country.
Starting Monday and through Tuesday, moderate to brisk northwesterly winds will lead to a marked drop in temperatures, particularly during New Year celebrations. This pattern aligns with typical winter conditions in Kuwait, where clear, dry nights can result in sharp temperature declines, especially in open and desert areas.
Authorities advise residents—especially those planning outdoor New Year’s Eve activities—to dress warmly and monitor official weather updates. Farmers and livestock owners are reminded to secure shelter, water supplies, and heating where necessary to mitigate the impact of near-freezing conditions on animals and sensitive vegetation.
