Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has issued Ministerial Decision No. 354 of 2025, ordering the immediate closure of Royal Pharmacy and the cancellation of its operating license. The decision, dated December 25, 2025, revokes license number 3500081 based on violations cited under Ministerial Decision No. 327 of 2025. The move underscores the ministry’s strict enforcement of pharmaceutical regulations aimed at protecting public health and ensuring compliance within the sector.
In a formal communication, Dr. Al-Awadhi requested the Minister of Commerce, Khalifa Al-Ajil, to instruct relevant authorities to enforce the closure and to cancel all associated commercial licenses, advertising permits, electronic platform authorizations, and trademark rights linked to the pharmacy. The ministry emphasized the urgency of the matter, highlighting the coordinated approach between health and commerce authorities in addressing serious regulatory breaches.
This action follows a series of recent crackdowns by Kuwait’s Ministry of Health on pharmacies violating drug dispensing and safety laws. Earlier this month, 15 private pharmacies were shut down for similar infractions, reflecting the government’s intensified oversight of pharmaceutical practices to prevent malpractice and safeguard consumer safety.
The closure of Royal Pharmacy signals Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to rigorous regulatory governance in the healthcare sector. By swiftly penalizing non-compliant establishments, authorities aim to uphold professional standards, ensure medication safety, and maintain public trust in licensed pharmaceutical outlets. Further inspections and enforcement actions are expected as part of the ministry’s continued campaign to uphold health regulations across the country.
