Dubai: Emirates has temporarily suspended all flights operating from Dubai International Airport following a security related incident near the airport.
Authorities advised passengers not to travel to the airport until further notice and to check official airline channels for updates regarding their flights.
According to officials, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority ordered the temporary suspension of flight services as a precaution after a fire in a fuel storage tank near the airport was brought under control. The incident was reportedly linked to debris from a drone.
Emirates said the safety of passengers and crew remains its highest priority and that further information will be provided after a full assessment of the situation.
Despite the disruption, airline authorities said efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience to travellers, particularly during the period of Ramadan.
Passengers have been urged to stay in contact with their airlines for accurate flight information and to rely only on official sources for updates.
