Manama: Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior has introduced a key update to the country’s emergency alert system on smartphones, with new rules now in effect.
Under the revised system, emergency alerts sent between 12:00 am and 6:00 am will no longer include loud siren sounds. Instead, notifications will be delivered using a standard message tone.
The change aims to reduce noise disturbances during sleeping hours while still ensuring that important safety information reaches the public.
Officials said the decision was made after considering public feedback, as many residents had raised concerns about sudden loud alerts causing panic during the night.
Authorities clarified that during daytime hours, emergency alerts will continue to be issued with full siren sounds as usual.
The updated system is designed to balance public safety with comfort, ensuring alerts remain effective without unnecessary disruption.
