Roads and Transport Authority has announced plans for a new ‘Airport Express Line’ to connect Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, aiming to enhance travel efficiency across the emirate.
The proposed metro line will span approximately 55 kilometres and include five stations, offering advanced passenger services such as remote airline check-in, baggage drop, and security screening facilities. Authorities have invited consultants to submit proposals for the project’s study and design, with a deadline set for June.
The route is expected to begin from the Red Line station in Al Garhoud, passing through key areas including Al Jaddaf, Al Khail Road, and Jumeirah Village Circle before reaching Al Maktoum Airport. Two additional branch lines are also planned, connecting JVC to areas near Emirates Golf Club and extending towards Business Bay.
The project will align in part with the route of Etihad Rail, currently under development. Alongside this, RTA is accelerating the extension of Route 2020 from Expo 2020 station to the West Terminal of Al Maktoum Airport, adding two new stations over a three-kilometre stretch.
Officials said these developments are expected to significantly boost Dubai’s aviation connectivity and public transport infrastructure once completed.
