Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new four-lane, 700-metre bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The bridge can handle around 6,000 vehicles per hour and serves traffic heading towards Al Qudra City, completing the main traffic configuration at the intersection after the opposite bridge opened in February.
Further improvements are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, including additional ramp bridges and around three kilometres of service roads. A 500-metre bridge will connect Al Qudra Road towards Jebel Ali, while a 900-metre bridge will serve traffic heading towards Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport. Once the full project is completed, the intersection’s capacity is expected to rise from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour, while waiting time could drop by 85 percent.
The wider Al Qudra Road development includes bridges with a combined length of 4,000 metres and upgrades to an 11.6-kilometre section of the road. RTA expects journey times along the upgraded section to fall by around 70 percent, from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes. The project is designed to improve connectivity, reduce congestion and support communities and developments serving more than 400,000 residents and visitors.
