Kuwait is preparing to hand over 21 new schools in Al Mutlaa Residential City to the Ministry of Education as authorities expand education infrastructure to meet the needs of the area’s growing population.
The Public Authority for Housing Welfare is coordinating the phased handover of the facilities, which include 10 kindergartens, five primary schools, four intermediate schools and two secondary schools for boys and girls.
The first phase is scheduled to begin on November 19, with six schools set to be handed over. The facilities include four kindergartens, one primary school and one intermediate school for boys. Completion rates at these schools currently range from 81 to 98 percent.
A second phase is scheduled for February 13 and will involve the handover of four additional schools, including two kindergartens and two secondary schools for boys and girls.
The remaining facilities are expected to be handed over in stages between April and August 2027. The Housing Welfare Authority aims to complete the transfer of all 21 schools before the start of the 2027-2028 academic year.
Following each handover, the Ministry of Education will prepare the schools for operation, including furnishing the facilities and completing other requirements based on the educational needs of Al Mutlaa and its projected student population.
The Education Ministry is already working on furniture and other requirements for the new schools. The preparations are being coordinated with expected population growth and student numbers as more residents move into Al Mutlaa.
The phased approach is intended to allow education authorities to match staffing, equipment and operational arrangements with the area’s actual demand as residential occupancy increases.
The addition of 21 schools represents a major expansion of public education infrastructure in Al Mutlaa and is part of the broader development of essential services in the new residential city.
