EMERGENCE OF THIRD WAVE OF COVID, VACCINE CANNOT PREVENT PANDEMIC, SAYS WHO

Washington: World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Athanom Gebrias says covid has reached the beginning of the third wave. The Delta variant has already been confirmed in 111 countries. He said the virus was evolving and could lead to more widespread variants. Immunizations are important for covid. But that alone will not stop the epidemic, he said.


The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said that covid cases and deaths were declining in Europe and North America due to higher immunization rates, but that there were still countries where vaccines were not available. He was addressing the emergency committee of the International Health Regulations.
