WUHAN TESTS 11.2 MILLION PEOPLE FOR COVID-19

China's Wuhan city has tested over 1.12 crore residents for COVID-19 so far amid a surge in cases, authorities said on Saturday. The city had launched an all-inclusive testing drive for the residents on August 4. Wuhan had not reported locally transmitted cases for over a year until seven people tested positive for COVID-19 on August 2, state media reported.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 93,605 by Friday, including 1,444 patients still receiving treatment, 39 of whom were in severe conditions and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus
