Abu Dhabi: A private hospital in the UAE has been ordered to pay Dh5,00,000 (more than Rs 1 crore) in damages to a young woman who underwent 'cancer surgery'. The woman had alleged that the hospital authorities had tried to extort money by misusing her medical insurance. According to the complaint, the hospital authorities deliberately lied that she had cancer.

The woman approached the Abu Dhabi Primary Court with a complaint. She demanded 500,000 dirhams in compensation for his physical and mental losses. Although she sought treatment at the hospital for digestive problems, the doctor sent her to another ward for further examination after conducting preliminary tests, the complaint said. The doctor who examined her second time told her that she had cancer and that she needed surgery to remove the tumor in her stomach. But after the surgery, she had other serious health problems. She then sought treatment at another hospital, where she underwent another operation.

The court appointed a special committee to investigate the incident. This committee examined medical reports and other findings. The committee found that the patient's condition was serious and had internal problems due to incorrect surgery. The medical report states that the first surgery was unnecessary and that the diagnosis was deliberately made incorrectly. The woman had lodged a complaint against the two doctors who treated her. After considering the findings of the committee, the court awarded five lakh dirhams in damages to the girl.
