Dubai Police Launches Bilingual Platform to Raise Cybercrime Awareness

Dubai: Dubai Police has launched a new bilingual online platform designed to increase awareness about cybercrime and promote digital safety among all members of society.

Developed by the Cybercrime Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensics, the platform is available in both Arabic and English. It provides extensive resources on how to recognize, prevent, and report cybercrimes, making it easier for the public to stay safe online.

The initiative targets every segment of the community — children, parents, individuals, employees, business owners, social media users, and anyone who uses the internet. It aligns with Dubai Police’s commitment to support the UAE’s wider digital transformation strategy and enhance national cybersecurity readiness.

Major General Hareb Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Search and Investigation Affairs, said the platform was launched under the directives of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

“Awareness is the first line of defense against all forms of crime, especially cybercrime. As we rely more on digital platforms and AI, it’s vital to educate the public and prevent fraudsters from exploiting them,” Al Shamsi said.

He added that Dubai Police remains committed to providing innovative, user-friendly digital services that help protect society and support the nation’s vision for a secure and smart future.

Major Abdullah Al Shehi, Director of the Cybercrime Investigation Department, explained that the platform covers key cybersecurity topics, from basic digital safety habits to recognizing phishing and other scams.

It teaches users how to:
  • Spot suspicious links and fake messages
  • Use strong, unique passwords
  • Back up important data
  • Secure devices like smartphones and computers
  • Protect social media and online accounts

Educational videos guide users on safe browsing and secure online practices. The platform also addresses modern threats such as deepfake videos, AI-generated scams, QR code fraud, malware, ransomware, and social engineering attacks.

Additionally, it offers specific advice on avoiding fake job offers, banking scams, fraudulent delivery messages, and OTP phishing traps. Users can learn how to check if online shopping deals or travel promotions are real and how to stay alert to new digital threats.

A dedicated ‘Reporting and Recovery’ section provides step-by-step instructions for reporting cybercrimes and tips for recovering hacked devices or accounts. It also includes customized advice for residents, tourists, businesses, and government employees on rebuilding digital security after an incident.

Dubai Police says this platform is a vital step in its ongoing mission to protect the community, empower the public with knowledge, and ensure that everyone can navigate the digital world with confidence and security.
