Kuwait Mandates Biometric Fingerprinting Before Travel, Bans It at Borders

  • 02/11/2025

Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has implemented a new regulation requiring all citizens and residents to complete biometric fingerprinting before their travel date. The key change is that this process will no longer be available at any air, land, or sea border crossing.

To avoid the congestion previously seen at departure points, individuals must now visit designated centers in advance. Citizens can use the personal identification centers of the General Department of Criminal Evidence and the National Identity Centers. Residents must complete the procedure at the Criminal Evidence Department centers located across all governorates.

The ministry stated that this measure is designed to streamline travel procedures and ensure a smooth flow of traffic at all border crossings. They have urged the public to complete the fingerprinting well ahead of their scheduled departure to prevent any delays or obstacles on their travel day.
