Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, took part in a community-focused outreach initiative by visiting around 200 dignitaries and families in Deira as part of the newly launched “Dubai Lunch” project. The event, held at Al Khawaneej Majlis, aimed to strengthen neighborhood ties and revive the traditional role of majlis as spaces for social bonding and transparent dialogue. Images and videos of Sheikh Hamdan warmly interacting with attendees—including a widely shared photo of him holding a young boy—quickly went viral, resonating with both citizens and expatriates.
The “Dubai Lunch” initiative is designed to foster social cohesion by organizing gatherings at various community majlises across Dubai. Its core objectives include enhancing mutual understanding, reinforcing Emirati traditions of hospitality and communication, and ensuring community voices are heard directly by leadership. Hessa bint Eisa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority, emphasized that people remain at the heart of Dubai’s development policies, especially as the emirate prepares to mark 2026 as the “Year of the Family.”
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the true strength of a city lies not in its infrastructure but in the unity and compassion of its people. He noted that values such as hospitality and social responsibility have historically shaped Dubai’s identity and must be preserved for future generations. The event underscored a shift toward more grassroots engagement, allowing leaders to listen to residents’ concerns and aspirations in an informal setting.
