A Kuwaiti court has handed down a severe 10-year prison sentence with hard labor to an expatriate for bribing government employees. The defendant paid 200 dinars to officials to manipulate blood samples and issue fraudulent health certificates that falsely cleared him of HIV and hepatitis.
This case is part of a recurring pattern. In similar incidents in February 2022 and December 2023, the same court sentenced other individuals to 10-year terms for falsifying blood test results for chronic diseases in exchange for bribes.
The scheme was initially uncovered through collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior. After receiving a tip, authorities urgently re-tested four expatriates, confirming that two were positive for Hepatitis B and two for Hepatitis C, proving the original certificates were forged.
