Israeli Airstrike Kills Four in Southern Lebanon, Threatening Fragile Truce

  • 02/11/2025

An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has killed at least four people, severely straining a fragile year-long ceasefire with Hezbollah. The strike targeted a vehicle in the town of Kfarsir, also wounding three others.

This incident occurs amidst rising hostilities. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has accused Israel of escalating military actions, while Israel defends its operations as targeting Hezbollah and blames Lebanon for not restraining the group. The situation was further inflamed by a recent Israeli ground raid in the border town of Blida, where a municipal employee was killed.

These developments have created fears that the already shaky truce could completely collapse, potentially reigniting a full-scale conflict along the Lebanon-Israel border. The UN reports that over 111 Lebanese civilians have been killed since the ceasefire began.
