Kuwait Airport Installs 20 Automated Defibrillators to Boost Emergency Response

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health has announced the installation of 20 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at Kuwait International Airport as part of its ongoing efforts to improve public safety and emergency medical response capabilities.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, official spokesperson for the Ministry, confirmed on Monday that the AEDs have been strategically distributed across the airport’s passenger terminals (T1, T4, and T5) as well as the Airport Health Center.

Dr. Al-Sanad explained that this initiative aims to enhance the ability to respond effectively to emergency health situations, especially sudden cardiac arrest cases, by enabling any trained individual to administer critical first aid using the AEDs. These devices provide clear audio and visual instructions, making them accessible for use by qualified personnel in critical moments.

To ensure maximum effectiveness, the Ministry has launched a special training program in coordination with relevant authorities to train Kuwait International Airport employees on proper AED usage. This training aims to secure a rapid and efficient response during life-threatening emergencies.

Dr. Al-Sanad extended his gratitude to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for its continued cooperation and support in providing the necessary infrastructure for installing the devices and promoting impactful health initiatives. He highlighted that global data shows the use of AEDs within the first minutes of cardiac arrest can increase survival rates by up to 70 percent.

He added that this step aligns with the Ministry of Health’s broader vision to promote prevention and community protection, translating the national health strategy “People First” into action by ensuring vital rescue tools are available in public spaces.

This initiative reinforces Kuwait’s commitment to providing a safer environment for travelers and airport visitors by ensuring that timely emergency support is always within reach.
