MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY SPENT 121 MILLION KUWAITI DINARS FOR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS SUBSIDIES AND FOOD

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Industry spent 121 million Kuwaiti dinars in the first half of 2021 on construction materials subsidies and food. Fifty per cent of the total cost was borne by the Ministry for construction materials. 


From January to the end of August, there was a significant increase in the cost of construction materials. Expenditure was 5.1 million dinars in January and 5.6 million dinars in February. 12 million in July and 13 million in August. 

The ministry subsidizes nine basic food items, including rice, sugar, milk and baby food. Subsidies are provided for six essential construction materials and seven selected items.
