WEDDINGS AND WEDDING HALLS ARE ACTIVE IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Marriages, conferences and social events are reviving as the covid situation in the country improves. The region, which has been stagnant for more than 18 months following corona restrictions, is slowly recovering. Owners have been busy cleaning up old furniture in wedding halls and event halls since the cabinet decision yesterday. Ali Al Noman, owner of Al Ostaura Hall, said the halls were ready to welcome events. He said he was indebted to the government for allowing weddings and social events to take place and was replacing furniture and interior decoration.

Ali al-Noman shared his hope that in the future, rents and workers' salaries will be a huge liability, but businesses will be able to make up for these losses in the coming days. Those working in the sector are relieved to see an increase in wedding hall reservations following the cabinet decision. Thousands of foreigners, including Indians, work in the sector, depending on the catering and service companies. Hall owner Salam al-Shammari said he was happy with the long-awaited cabinet decision to lift the restrictions.

Currently bookings are coming in well. He said he expects the season to kick off if bookings are made in the same way. Salam al-Shammari said no decision had been made on the rent increase and that the pricing would depend on the catering and service companies. The closure lasted for a year and a half, causing significant damage to furniture and air conditioning. Salam al-Shammari also pointed out that the hall owners had incurred huge financial losses due to rent and expenses for offices and stores. Wedding halls and conference halls contribute about 40 percent of the country's hotel revenue.
