FACEBOOK CHANGES ITS NAME TO META

California: Facebook changes name of model company. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has announced that the new name for the company will be 'Meta'. He made the announcement at the Facebook Connect Augmented and Virtual Reality Conference.


Mark Zuckerberg, meanwhile, said the names of the currently used Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp apps would not change, but the name of the parent company that owns them. The company also unveiled the new logo at its headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

The name change is not just about being a social media company, it is about preparing to expand its operations. Zuckerberg said the renaming was a sign that the company was expanding into a wider metavers area beyond social media.

The name change comes amid a series of questions about Facebook's security concerns, including revelations from former employees.
