THE WORLD BANK REPORTS THAT DECLINING NUMBER OF SKILLED MIGRANT WORKERS IN GULF COUNTRIES IS WORRYING

Kuwait City: The declining number of skilled migrant workers in the Arabian Gulf countries is worrying, according to a World Bank report. The World Bank report specifically mentions Saudi Arabia. This is in addition to low- and middle-income countries, especially in the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia, the report said.

The World Bank's latest report on migration and development says demand for skilled labor will increase in the GCC countries. But as it prepares to face the financial crisis and prepare for lower oil prices, it is likely to find less skilled foreigners in the future. As a solution to this, the governments of the Gulf countries are encouraging their own citizens in various fields of employment instead of expatriates.

Remittances from Filipinos to Kuwait in the first quarter of 2021 were lower than in the previous year, according to the World Bank. However, remittances from Kuwait to Egypt in the first quarter of this year stood at the same level as the previous year, according to World Bank sources.
