Kuwait : Kuwait University is moving to accept more foreign students in its various faculties, in conformity with the appropriate legislation, as part of its efforts to improve its global position. These steps were taken after the University Council considered the report of the committee constituted to improve Kuwait University's status in international rankings at its most recent meeting.According to Al-Qabas sources, the committee's recommendation to the University Council may conflict with the principle of free academic education, noting that those in charge of university administration understand the importance of accepting more international students, as it is one of the criteria used to evaluate universities in international rankings.According to the sources, Article 30 of the Public Universities Law guarantees and supports free education, and the University Council has the authority to impose special fees on non-Kuwaitis.
