KUWAIT CITY – According to the Al-Rai daily, Iran has asked Kuwait to remove trade and customs barriers that are impeding bilateral trade between the two countries.

According to the Iranian government's official website, Kuwaiti Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Dr Ahmad Al-Nasser met his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's extraordinary meeting of foreign affairs ministers on Afghanistan last week.

According to the report, Abdollahian emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, intensifying efforts to remove consular barriers, and easing citizen movement.

According to Abdollahian, the two countries' relations are "based on brotherhood and good neighbourliness," and Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser was quoted by the website as saying that the two countries' consular and border committees will meet soon.
