CLIMATE EXPERTS PREDICT EXTREME COLD WEATHER IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Northwesterly winds will continue in the country today. Expert Adel al-Marzouk said winds of up to 13 kilometers per hour and less than six kilometers per hour were expected. On Monday, the wind direction will change to south-east. Wind speeds of up to 20 kmph are expected from tomorrow. This will reduce the intensity of the current frost and terminate it. 


On January 25, the wind will turn in a north-westerly direction. This will moderately increase the cold. He added that winds of up to 20 kilometers per hour would continue until Wednesday, January 26. The temperature during this time is between 18 - 20 degrees Celsius. At night it drops to between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius. Adel al-Marzouk said winter hit the country two days earlier this year. The cold snap was usually from January 24 to 31.

The meteorologist said the temperature in Kuwait City and its suburbs had been 10 to 12 degrees for the past three days. The Salmi region recorded -2 ​​degrees Celsius on Saturday morning. The minimum temperature recorded in the Salmi region on Friday was zero degrees Celsius on Friday and -2 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Northwesterly frosts increased, with temperatures dropping to -4 degrees Celsius in some areas. 

Severe frosts will end in January, but frosts will continue in February, with lower temperatures recorded in previous years. He pointed out that open areas, deserts and farmlands are the areas most affected by the cold.
