Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health announced that the first shipments of the "Moderna" vaccine, one of the vaccines approved by the ministry, will arrive in Kuwait in March. "Pfizer," "AstraZeneca – Oxford," and "Johnson" & Johnson are the other vaccines that have been approved. According to health sources, the contract was signed directly between the Ministry of Health and the manufacturer, with no intermediaries, based on the recommendation of the Vaccine Selection Committee and after receiving regulatory approvals.

According to the sources, the reason for the delay in the arrival of this vaccine is due to the ministry's consideration of the temporal coordination element for the arrival of doses during specified periods, which prevents the buildup of vaccines that may go waste due to expiry of date. The contract includes a replacement provision in the event of expiry and payment delay according to the Ministry's defined dates, as well as the fact that the price of the dose includes the cost of delivery to the retailers. According to the sources, the deal price is comparable to the price of the company's contracts with numerous countries.
