PAM IS MAKING "NEW ATTEMPTS" TO RESOLVE THE 60s ISSUE IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is in the process of breaking the impasse and has developed a new draught decision addressing the renewal of work permits for non-graduate 60-year-old expats working in the country's private sector. According to daily sources, a price of 250 dinars has been proposed for the renewal of the work permit for non-graduate expats (60 years and older), in addition to health insurance, in the new draught decision. The new decision will be delivered at the next meeting of the Public Authority for Manpower Board of Directors, which will be chaired by Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Promotion Jamal Al-Jalawi.

According to the sources, the above-mentioned charge is less than what was agreed upon by the Board of Directors at its most recent meeting, which was chaired by former Minister of Commerce Abdullah Al-Salman, and was set at 500 dinars for permission to work other than private health insurance. The draught of the new decision will also be offered to the members of the Board of Directors for a vote before a decision is made, according to the source. According to the sources, PAM's information systems are ready to implement any revised version of the decision promptly.

Meanwhile, the Health Assurance Hospitals Company stated that the hospital's Board of Directors is working hard to construct and equip the first 'Daman' hospital, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2022. According to the sources, "after the hospital opens, the Ministry of the Interior will be asked to boost the value of the health insurance charge for expats to 130 dinars when the residence permit is up for renewal beginning in 2023, according to the fees indicated in the tender documents." According to the sources, "Daman would not charge anything other than what is specified in the tender documents unless it has space to use its facilities for commercial reasons."
