FASTING TIMES ARE DETERMINED BY THE DISTANCE FRO THE EQUATOR

Kuwait City: In Kuwait, a Muslim fasts for 15 hours on average during Ramadan, however the number of fasting hours varies by country, depending on the length of the day, which is determined by the distance between the country and the equator. 


This Ramadan, Muslims in New Zealand will fast for approximately 11 hours and 20 minutes, while those in Finland, Norway, Greenland, and Russia will fast for approximately 20 hours. The Maghreb countries and Iraq have the longest fasting hours in the Arab world, lasting approximately 15 and a half hours, while the average number of fasting hours in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the Emirates, Lebanon, and Palestine is 15 hours.

Comoros will have the fewest fasting hours in the Arab countries, with Muslims fasting for only about 13 hours. America and China share the same fasting hours of 16 and a half hours, but Japan and Canada have 16 hours. In Turkey, individuals fast for about 14 hours and 30 minutes, in India for about 15 hours, in Pakistan and Iran for about 16, in Afghanistan for about 17 hours, and in Singapore for about 13 and a half hours.
