Kuwait City: After a long absence, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved to resume hiring in the Kuwait Municipality's legal department. In a letter to the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Rana Al-Fares, the Head of CSC Maryam Al-Aqeel explained that the CSC agreed to end the suspension of appointment to jobs in the Kuwait Municipality's legal department during its meeting No. 1/2022 on March 19.

It agreed to open the door for appointment procedures for “attorney B grade” vacancies in accordance with the conditions contained in Dr. Al-Fares’ Decision No. 84/222 regarding the controls for appointment to these jobs. CSC’s approval came after the municipality sent its responses to CSC’s inquiries concerning the appointment controls decision, as well as the inclusion of the request to provide the grades and financial credits necessary for appointment in these jobs within the draft budget of 2022/2023.

The municipality stated that the request's inclusion has been halted pending CSC clearance, and that coordination has been established with the Fatwa and Legislation Department to set the acceptance method so that the best elements may be chosen. Dr. Al-Fares had issued a ministerial directive outlining the terms and circumstances for appointment to the position of "attorney B grade," as well as tying the appointments to the approval of the appointments.
