Kuwait City : The Ministry of Health is collaborating with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) to reduce food poisoning cases and identify the cause of such instances, which have increased in recent years as a result of being exposed to food taken from select restaurants. According to informed sources, both parties are conducting investigations to determine the causes of the poisoning, and PAFN is putting in place processes and procedures to strengthen control over foodstuffs.

According to the sources, medical staff in health facilities have been directed to notify the PAFN coordinator in each health region whenever any cases of food poisoning are reported so that samples of the food can be taken to determine the source of the poisoning and take disciplinary measures in the best interests of the citizens and residents. This is in addition to the Ministry of Health and the Food and Nutrition Authority improving their health collaboration.

According to sources, the Ministry of Health has urged that incidents of suspected food poisoning be reported as soon as possible, as well as environmental data on the locations where suspicious meals were cooked and their compliance with health criteria. According to reports, the Ministry of Health has asked that food handlers have their health status verified, that they do not have any visible ailments, and that health professionals have 'FIT' IDs while on duty.
