Kuwait City: According to a senior government official, food security is the state's top concern, and appropriate steps will be implemented to protect Kuwait from the hazards of commodities shortages and high worldwide prices.

"The actions taken in this regard aim to reassure consumers over short-term and medium-term supplies, as well as to establish a long-term plan to provide guarantees that Kuwait will not be adversely affected by worldwide fluctuations," according to the source.

They include raising the per capita consumption of chicken by 50% and covering the ten percent price rise for supplier companies through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry without burdening individuals.

The fragility of the storage network, as well as the absence of locations for traders to absorb significant quantities for more than three months, provide a challenge."

According to the source, "a government strategy that includes food, medical, and building materials is being developed." It aims for Kuwait to own influential shares in various international bodies, companies, and factories in order to secure the country with the necessary quantities and the continuation of reassuring flows of food, medicine, and construction materials, without being severely affected by goods shortages caused by global market fluctuations and competition for goods between countries."
