KUWAIT MUNCIPALITY SAYS THERE IS NO NEED FOR NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  • 29/07/2022

Kuwait City: Municipality Director General M Ahmed Manfouhi said that the fourth structural plan of Kuwait states that there is no need to establish an additional international airport in the country. He was reacting to the Municipal Council's decision on January 10, 2022 to allocate land in the northern part of the country for the construction of a new airport. A municipal council has canceled a decision to build a new airport in the north of the country.

It is estimated that the expansion of the current airport alone will be sufficient to serve 50 million passengers annually. It is in this context that the Fourth Structural Plan suggests that there is no need to establish an airport. Manfouhi said that based on the decision of the municipal council, coordination on these issues is underway with the General Administration of Civil Aviation and necessary steps can be taken.
