MOBILE CART PROPRIETORS IN KUWAIT COMPLAIN ABOUT SHORTAGE OF SPACE

  • 11/08/2022

Kuwait City: Considering that just 400 sites were allotted for more than 1,800 licensed carts, the owners of mobile carts are suffering as a result of the lack of spaces for them. According to sources, the Kuwait Municipality intends to ask the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to transfer responsibility for the selection of such locations to the Municipality in order to guarantee that all license holders can continue operating their businesses.

Sources have also verified that efforts are being made to modify the new road occupancy list's provisions for these vehicles. It is believed that these revisions will soon be submitted to the Municipal Council for debate and will include the definition of additional sites. According to sources, the Municipality has repeatedly demanded that its decision to allocate more spaces be put into effect in order to accommodate everyone who has been granted a license to operate this type of business, most notably in the parking lots of nightclubs, public parks, and the coastal strip. According to sources, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has not yet approved these sites.
