KUWAITIS INCREASED TO 1.5 MILLION AND EXPATRIATES TO 2.96 MILLION

Kuwait City: Recent official data issued by the Civil Information Authority revealed that the population of Kuwait increased during the first 6 months of 2022 by 78.71 thousand people, as the total population increased from 4.38 million people at the end of December 2021 to 4.46 million people at the end of June 2022.


The number of expatriates increased By the end of June 2022 by 65,288 thousand male and female residents, bringing their number to 2.96 million, compared to 2.89 million at the end of 2021, while the number of citizens increased for the same period by 13.4 thousand male and female citizens, bringing their number in June 2022 to about 1.5 million male and female citizens, compared to 1.48 million at the end of December 2021.

While the total population of Kuwait at the end of last June amounted to about 4.464 million people, 34% of them were citizens, or 1.5 million male and female citizens, while expatriates accounted for 66% of the total population of Kuwait, with 2.96 million male and female residents.

The figures indicate that 58% of the Kuwaiti population is employed, as the total number of workers in the country is about 2.6 million male and female workers, 73% of whom work in the government and private sectors, amounting to 1.9 million people, and 27% of them work as domestic workers, amounting to 693.22 thousand workers and domestic workers.

Figures show the list of the top 10 expatriate nationalities present in Kuwait. The Indian community tops the list, as it constitutes 19% of the total population of Kuwait, with more than 863,000 Indians and Indians, who in total constitute about 57% of Kuwaiti citizens, and it was remarkable that the numbers of this community increased during the first 6 months of the year 2022 by 26,928 thousand Indians.
