ADVISORY REGARDING HEAVY SCHOOLBAGS IN KUWAIT

  • 28/09/2022

Kuwait City: Dr. Youssef Koleilat, an orthopaedic expert at Al-Seef Hospital, issued a cautionary statement regarding the dangers of students carrying heavy school bags. Less than 10% of the student's weight should be in the school bag.

Unfortunately, we discovered that the majority of students carry bags that account for more than 17% of their total weight. You must observe your child while he is carrying the bag to determine if it is too heavy for him.

The bag is too heavy for him if he has to lean forward to balance himself. A doctor's appointment is required if back pain persists and the child's back is curved, he continued.

Although some schools offer lockers, most students prefer to keep their books with them, which adds to the load on their backs.
