WARNING THAT THE PRICE OF EGGS WILL RISE AT LEAST 40 PERCENT IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City : Warning that the price of eggs will rise by at least 40 percent. Egg prices have already gone up by 25 percent in parallel markets. It is estimated that this will reach 40 percent in the coming period as well. The increase in the price of feed, the spread of bird flu and the monopoly of one of the egg producing companies are cited as the reasons for the price increase. In the wake of the unfair hike, the Consumer Protection Association has been involved in the matter.


The Consumer Protection Association is pushing for an intervention set up by a local company to produce eggs along with ensuring price stability and following a boycott policy. Meanwhile, the Union of Co-operative Societies has confirmed that it has rejected the request of the production companies to increase the prices. Sources in the cooperatives also said that eggs are not available in various main and subsidiary markets of the cooperatives.
