Over 2,000 dead in massive earthquake in Afghanistan

Over 2,000 people lost their lives in western Afghanistan after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit close to the Iran border. The epicentre of the earthquake was about 40 km west of Herat. 


About 2,053 have been killed, with more than 1,240 injured and 1,320 homes destroyed, according to a Taliban spokesman. Pictures showed huge piles of rubble and debris after buildings came down. People were huddled in the streets to stay safe.
