The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has become the first organization worldwide to receive the ISO 42001:2023 certification for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems in the agriculture and food security sector. This achievement also makes ADAFSA the first UAE government entity to earn this AI certification in agriculture.
This global recognition highlights ADAFSA’s integration of AI technologies, such as intelligent analytics and machine learning—into essential services like food safety and sustainable farming practices. The certification supports the UAE’s broader goals under its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, focusing on digital innovation, sustainable development, and leadership in responsible AI governance.
Minister Omar Sultan Al Olama praised the milestone, noting it reflects the country’s commitment to setting global benchmarks for safe and efficient AI adoption. ADAFSA's Acting Director-General, Dr. Tariq Al Ameri, emphasized that the certification reinforces the authority’s mission to advance sustainable agriculture using cutting-edge AI tools.
Since 2020, the UAE has played a key role in shaping international AI frameworks through the Emirates AI Experts Group, contributing to global standardization efforts under ISO. ADAFSA’s certification solidifies its leadership in smart agriculture, driving innovation in food safety and long-term sustainability.
