Qatar Expands Emergency Medical Support in Gaza Amid Escalating Israeli Strikes

As Israeli attacks in Gaza escalate, Qatar has reinforced its humanitarian efforts by establishing a new emergency care center in the Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics, located in northern Gaza. This initiative is funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and aims to provide urgent medical assistance to the growing number of injured civilians.

The newly established medical point is designed to receive hundreds of patients, deliver immediate treatment, and refer critical cases to other hospitals operated by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Ambulances from the Health Ministry, the Palestine Red Crescent, and other medical services are being utilized for transfers.

In recent weeks, the hospital has treated over 2,500 wounded individuals, with 119 killed and 1,227 injured just in the past week due to Israeli strikes.

QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti emphasized Qatar’s commitment to humanitarian values and its responsibility toward Gaza’s people. He urged the international community to take a firm stance in ensuring safe aid delivery and protection of civilians and humanitarian workers.

He strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of hospitals and described the worsening conditions—including severe hunger, lack of medical supplies, and continuous bombardment—as clear violations that must end immediately.

The hospital continues to support prosthetics, rehabilitation, audiology, and balance services, and houses northern Gaza's only CT scan unit, offering vital care to both the injured and disabled. The emergency unit, placed in a volatile field zone, is a direct response to the health system’s collapse in northern Gaza, according to hospital director Ahmad Nayim.
