Qatar Ranked World's Fastest-Growing Holiday Destination in New Report

  • 09/10/2025

According to recent reports from British publications The Telegraph and Travel Off Path, Qatar has been identified as the world's fastest-growing holiday destination. The analysis, based on statistics from the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), shows an unprecedented surge in international visitors to the country since 2019. This growth rate has allowed Qatar to surpass all other nations in terms of tourism expansion.

The Telegraph reports a 138% increase in international tourist arrivals in 2024 compared to 2019, with numbers jumping from 2.1 million to over 5 million. The media outlets attribute this remarkable success to massive post-World Cup investments in the country's infrastructure, which include new cultural institutions, resorts, and museums that continue to attract global visitors.

Further cementing this status, the travel website Travel Off Path placed Qatar in the number one spot on its list of the "World's 30 Fastest-Growing Tourism Hubs," noting a recorded growth of 137.62% between 2019 and 2024. While visitors from other GCC countries form a significant portion of the tourism base, substantial increases have also been recorded from Europe, Asia, and the UK.
