Qatar has revealed its 26-player squad for two friendly matches against Russia and Bahrain as part of preparations for the fourth round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers. Head coach Julen Lopetegui announced the team selection, which features mostly familiar faces from previous squads with a few notable changes and recalls.

The team will first face Bahrain at Al Thumama Stadium on September 3 before taking on Russia at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on September 7. The squad shows continuity from Lopetegui's previous selections, though it notably excludes captain Hassan Al Haydos and striker Almoiz Ali while welcoming back several players including Al-Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada and defenders Sultan Al-Braik and Al-Mahdi Ali.

Qatar currently stands fourth in their qualifying group with 13 points from 10 matches. The two-time AFC Asian Cup champions are using these friendlies to fine-tune their lineup and tactics ahead of crucial World Cup qualifying matches. The selected squad features a mix of experienced veterans and emerging talents across all positions.

The team includes goalkeepers Meshal Barsham, Salah Zakaria, and Mahmoud Abunada, alongside field players such as Akram Afif, Pedro Miguel, and Bassam Al Rawi. These preparation matches represent important opportunities for Lopetegui to assess player form and team chemistry before the competitive qualifiers resume.
