Qatar Airways has issued a travel advisory for passengers who are not citizens of the European Union, warning them of a new Entry/Exit System (EES) being implemented in EU countries starting October 12, 2025. The airline urged travelers to familiarize themselves with the new rules to avoid potential difficulties upon arrival. The EES will replace manual passport stamps with a digital system that records a traveler's passport number, fingerprints, and a facial photograph. This automated process will be mandatory for non-EU citizens entering the Schengen Area, which includes 25 EU member states and four associated countries like Switzerland and Norway. Popular destinations such as Spain, France, Italy, and Greece are among the nations adopting the new system.
It is important to note that the Republic of Ireland and Cyprus are not part of this new system and will continue with their existing passport control procedures.
