Thousands of supporters of Nepal’s ex king clashes with police

Tens of thousands of supporters of the former king of Nepal attempted to march toward the capital to call for the restoration of the monarchy, but riot police stopped them with batons and tear gas.


The demonstrators gathered on the outskirts of Kathmandu and made an attempt to make their way into the city center while holding the national flag and shouting slogans in support of the former king, Gyanendra. They were blocked by riot police who used water cannons and tear gas.
