Food and Nutrition General Authority launches traffic light labeling for packaged foods

The Food and Nutrition General Authority has recently launched a new program with the goal of increasing public awareness regarding the nutritional value of packaged foods. This initiative, known as "Your Hand is in Our Hand," introduces a light signal system on the front of food packages, which enables consumers to make well-informed decisions about their dietary choices.


By utilizing visual cues in the form of light signals, consumers can easily determine the percentage of energy, fats, saturated fats, sugars, and salt present in a particular product. The primary objective of this labeling system is to empower consumers by providing them with transparent information, enabling them to make healthier food choices and effectively manage their intake of fats and calories.
