WHO: Demand for radiation therapy will increase by 19% over next decade

The head of the radiological nature department at the center, Dr. Mishari Al-Naimi, delivered a speech Yesterday on the occasion of the World Medical Physics Week about the current and future prospects for the specialization of medical physics in the Middle East. He said "The symposium aims to present the latest developments in this field, and share lessons learned to enhance preparedness through the joint efforts of international medical physics organizations and the International Atomic Energy Agency to take major steps in the fight against cancer."


According to the World Health Organization, it is expected that the incidence of cancer will rise to nearly double current rates by 2030, and that the demand for radiation therapy will increase by more than 19 percent over the next decade.
