Academics and health specialists confirmed that the expansion of health projects requires an urgent plan to develop medical education, noting that the College of Medicine at Kuwait University provides only 33% of the country’s needs for doctors, which is a low number and not in line with the Kuwaitization and replacement plan. At a time when the country's hospitals need 300 additional doctors annually.

While academics and health specialists warned of the delay in the plan to develop medical education, they stressed that Kuwait University graduates only 100 doctors every year, while the College of Medicine has the potential and ability to increase acceptance, noting that its current acceptance rate is lower than its absorptive capacity.
